West Ham want to sign Inter Milan starlet in the summer

According to Calciomercato, West Ham are interested in signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Filip Stankovic in the summer transfer window.

However, the Serie A side are reportedly determined to keep hold of their impressive shot-stopper.

The Hammers have been struggling in the goalkeeping department this season, having conceded 43 goals in 25 Premier League matches.

After Lukasz Fabianski’s injury in October, the East London side were poorly served by his replacement Roberto Jimenez who committed blunders in several important matches and hence got loaned out to Deportivo Alaves in January.

With Fabianski and David Martin both nearing 35 years of age, it makes sense that West Ham are looking for a relatively younger goalie.

The Serbia U19 international has not made his first-team debut for Inter but it is believed he is rated very highly by the Italian side due to his performances in Primavera 1.

The 17-year-old has been playing regularly for the club’s U19s this campaign, racking up 17 appearances in all competitions.

The Nerazzurri have three goalkeeping options, including Daniele Padelli, Samir Handanovic, and Tommaso Berni, but they are all above 30 years of age. Therefore, it is no surprise that Inter do not want to sell their young prospect to the Premier League side.

The Milan based club have seen a huge transformation since Antonio Conte took charge at the beginning of this season. They are currently leading the Serie A table with 54 points after securing 16 victories and losing only one match.
