Barcelona are considering a move for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane if Lionel Messi decides to leave the Spanish side this summer, as per Sport via TMW.
If the La Liga side are serious about signing the Senegal international, then they will have to pay a hefty £107 million, claims the report.
There has been great speculation in the media about Messi’s transfer this past week since it emerged that the 33-year-old could leave the Nou Camp this summer. According to reports, several top European clubs, including Manchester City, PSG, and Inter Milan, are all interested in his signature.
The Argentina international could still end up staying at Camp Nou, but it seems the new boss Ronald Koeman is considering a contingency plan and he has identified Mane as a potential replacement. The 28-year-old clocked up 47 appearances in all competitions last campaign, scoring 22 goals to help his side win the Premier League title.
The experienced footballer has been spectacular for the Reds since he joined the Anfield outfits in 2016 from Southampton and is now regarded as one of the best players of the club.
He has made 170 appearances in all competitions, scoring an incredible 81 goals and creating 34 assists. Mane proved to be a great signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and he has won Champions League trophy and Premier League title during his time at the club.
He is part of the Reds’ formidable attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, and the Merseyside club should do everything to keep the player at Anfield.
