Greg Docherty has sent an emotional social media message to supporters after his departure from Rangers, as per The Boot Room.
The 23-year-old has now joined the League One side Hull City who reportedly paid £400,000 plus add-ons for hiring the services of the midfielder.
The transfer move was looking likely as Docherty struggled to feature for the first-team last campaign.
For some fans, it was surprising to see the player not get enough opportunities after his great loan spell at Shrewsbury Town during the 2018-19 campaign. However, he couldn’t impress Steven Gerrard and headed to the January transfer window without playing for the Scottish club since August.
He once again performed well for Hibernian during his short spell, but still, this did not strengthen his claim for a place in the team.
And it seemed that his time at Ibrox was over when he wasn’t featured in any of the opening matches at the beginning of this new campaign.
The player’s departure from Rangers may have disappointed a lot of fans, and judging by his social media message, the midfielder was also feeling mixed emotions.
In a sentimental message, he thanked all the fans and suggested that he was greatly proud to have the honor of representing Rangers.
He also promised to return to the club as a supporter in the future.
He wrote on Instagram:
“Representing Rangers is something I always did so with immense pride and never took for granted. I can’t thank the fans enough for the incredible support shown to me throughout my time at the club however it is time to take on the next challenge in my career. I’m already looking forward to returning as a supporter in the future when it is safe to do so!”
