Leeds United want to sign Lyon star Maxwel Cornet

Leeds United are interested in hiring the services of Olympique Lyonnais player Maxwel Cornet who is rated over €10 million by the French side, as per Le Foot Sur 7.

The Whites are not the only club who want to get the Ivorian footballer’s signature, rather top clubs Liverpool, Dortmund, Watford and Wolfsburg have also been watching the progress of the player in recent months.

He has been performing brilliantly for the Ligue 1 side recently, with the 23-year-old scoring the opener against Manchester City to help his side win 3-1 in the Champions League. He proved to be a nightmare for the Spanish manager Pep Guardiola. Cornet was even on the scoresheet in a group stage victory over the Sky Blues in the previous campaign.

The talented player joined the youth academy of Metz in 2004 and rose through its ranks to earn 25 total appearances for the senior team, with a goal to his name too.

He joined Lyon in January 2015, earning 212 appearances in all competitions and scoring 47 goals and creating 23 assists.

Maxwel looks to be a good fit for the Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play. He is a versatile footballer who can perform his attacking duties at wide right or wide left, however, he was recently employed as a left wing-back by the French manager Rudi Garcia.

The Ivory Coast international was one of the standout performers when his side knocked out City and he showed that he can shine at the highest level of football. The 23-year-old’s tireless work down the left flank seems to be a good match for Bielsa’s team.

The Whites supporters will be hoping that the player signs for the West Yorkshire side and help them do well in the top flight.
