Newcastle have entered the race to sign Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster on loan this summer, according to Mirror.
The Magpies, according to the report, have asked the Reds about Brewster as they want to hire the services of the player for the next campaign after they ditched pursuit of Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Steve Bruce’s side made enquiries about the 23-year-old footballer but they stopped chasing him because of Arsenal’s £25 million asking fee, as per The Telegraph.
It looks they have now shifted their attention to bringing in Brewster who has just returned to Anfield after a short loan spell at Swansea City.
The English footballer was spectacular for the Championship side, scoring 11 goals in 22 matches and helping them reach the play-offs.
His good form has continued in the pre-season campaign, with the 20-year-old scoring three goals in the friendly matches against Red Bull Salzburg and Stuttgart.
However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool allows the player to join the Tynesiders on loan this summer.
According to the Telegraph report above, many clubs are interested in Rhian’s services this summer, but the Reds are yet to make a decision whether to send him on loan again or give him an opportunity in the first team in the next campaign.
Newcastle are also reportedly watching Bournemouth players Josh King and Callum Wilson, with Bruce eager to sign another forward due to Dwight Gayle’s injury that has ruled him out of the game for several months.
