Tottenham eyeing a move for Sampdoria midfielder Ronaldo Vieira

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sampdoria player Ronaldo Vieira this summer, according to a report from Il Secolo XIX

The report claims that Spurs are not the only interested side and several clubs want to get the player’s signature, with Premier League sides Everton, Leicester City, Southampton and Burnley also mentioned.

While it is said that his former employers Leeds United even sent scouts to watch him last month, with the Whites considering to bring him back again.

A big part of his appeal comes from the fact that the 22-year-old is a homegrown talent, and reportedly his club would let him leave for a fee around €10 million.

The England U21 international joined the youth ranks of the Peacocks in 2015 where he went on to make 71 appearances for the senior team, scoring two goals and creating four assists.

He joined Sampdoria in the summer of 2018 and so far he has clocked up 44 appearances for the Serie A side.

Spurs are interested to sign Ronaldo even though they just hired another midfielder Piere-Emile-Hojbjerg from Southampton.

It seems more likely that the 22-year-old would move back to Elland Road rather than go to London.

In an interview to BBC Sport in 2018, the Peacocks owner Andrea Radrizzani conceded that he had to sacrifice the talented midfielder to help fund investments and that the Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa never wanted him to leave. Therefore, he could return to his former club.

Jose Mourinho’s side already hired Hojbjerg, so the likelihood of the London club signing another midfielder looks less likely unless they offload one of their current options.
