According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa’s latest offer for Arsenal’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was around £15 million, with the Lions eager to sign the 28-year-old before their season-opener.
The report says that the Argentine footballer is their top goalkeeper target this summer. It is suggested that Jed Steer could be given the keeping responsibilities at the start of the campaign with Tom Heaton not recovered from his injury.
However, it looks the English manager Dean Smith is looking to add Martinez to his ranks before their first match of the season against Sheffield United.
Smith’s side have reportedly made an offer of around £15 million for hiring the services of the 28-year-old. It remains to be seen whether the Gunners are ready to let their keeper move for that fee.
Previously it was suggested by the Mail that the London side value Emiliano at around £20 million. So it seems an agreement between the two clubs is not very far.
Many Arsenal supporters will be disappointed if their goalkeeper is allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Argentine performed superbly for the club last campaign when Bernd Leno was absent.
He looks to be a great signing for Villa this summer as they aim to finish higher up the Premier League table after barely managing to survive last campaign, with a 1-0 victory over the Gunners and a draw at West Ham playing a crucial role for them.
