Chelsea have turned down Inter Milan’s bid for N’Golo Kante that involved Marcelo Brozovic as a makeweight, according to 90MIN.
The 29-year-old suffered an injury in the 2019-20 season, thus he could make only 22 Premier League appearances for the Blues. Apart from the previous campaign, the Frenchman has been consistently impressive for the club since joining it in 2016.
Kante was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer with Inter credited with a strong interest in the central midfielder.
As per The Guardian, the Serie A side made an offer for hiring the services of the experienced midfielder. The report says that the Nerazzurri also offered Brozovic as part of the deal but the Blues rejected the offer. The Italian side even suggested involving Christian Eriksen in negotiations, but the other party was not interested.
The English boss Frank Lampard wants to keep the 29-year-old at Stamford Bridge and the World Cup winner is also happy to stay at the club.
Inter have seen an active transfer window so far, and the Italian boss Antonio Conte would need to offload some of the players to raise funds for a cash deal.
The Nerazzurri have already signed Achraf Hakimi (from Real Madrid) and Aleksandar Kolarov (from Roma), while they have made permanent the loan deals of Nicolo Barella and Stefano Sensi. Alexis Sanchez, who failed to shine at Manchester United but rediscovered his form in Italy, has also joined the San Siro side on a free transfer.
