Lionel Messi set to miss Barcelona training, claims report

According to Goal.com, football superstar Lionel Messi is set to miss Barcelona training on Monday, with the 33-year-old believing that his contract with the Catalans is over.

The Argentine footballer shocked the whole world when he handed a transfer request to the board after the end of a disappointing 2019-20 season for Barca, which saw them missing out on the La Liga title and going out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals.

Messi believes that he could trigger a clause in his contract that would permit him to depart the Camp Nou side as a free agent.

However, La Liga has sided with the Catalans who insist that the clause has expired in June, which means that he can only leave if any club pays the €700 million.

Lionel looks firm on his stand, and he has distanced himself further from the Spanish giants.

The experienced footballer didn’t turn up for Coronavirus- screening on Sunday and he will reportedly not show for training as the player regards that his contract is over.

He has been strongly linked with a move to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, while PSG and Inter are also said to be other teams who have a serious interest to hire his services.

The report also says that the player wants to meet with the board to leave on good terms, however, it is said that the club will only be interested in dialogue if he wants to sign a new contract.
