Premier League sides West Ham and Newcastle are reportedly interested to sign Brighton defender Bernardo, according to Sky Sports.
The report claims that both Steve Bruce and David Moyes want to hire the services of the Brazilian footballer who clocked up 14 league appearances for Albion last campaign.
The 25-year-old joined the Seagulls in 2018 from RB Leipzig and has been impressive at the Amex Stadium, especially in the 2018-19 season, and now he has sparked interest from two top clubs.
Both the Magpies and the Hammers are scouring the market to add a new left-back this summer.
Newcastle can’t avail the services of Jetro Willems and Danny Rose now as both have returned to their parent clubs after the expiration of their loan deals.
While West Ham also needs to strengthen their defensive ranks with Aaron Cresswell nearing 31 years.
However, the above English clubs are not the only sides who want to sign Bernardo as Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir are also said to be keen.
Given that neither English clubs have a huge budget, hiring Bernardo looks like a decent, cost-effective signing for them.
And seeing that the player hasn’t been a regular under boss Graham Potter, he could be allowed to leave the Amex Stadium this summer.
It is said that the Seagulls are already in talks with Istanbul, so the Hammers and the Magpies will have to make a move quickly if they want to include the 25-year-old Brazilian in their ranks ahead of the new campaign.
