Newcastle’s Fight to stay in the Premier League

New owners took over Newcastle United in October 2021, which then increased the excitement level of the fans by dreaming of many new signings. After the successful takeover,  Newcastle could still not perform at that elite level in the Premier League and was in the 19th position after eight games without a win. This then forced the new owners to take a quick decision. Newcastle then decided to part ways with the manager Steve Bruce MUTUALLY. Assistant coach Graeme Jones took over as a caretaker. On the 8th of November, Newcastle appointed  Eddie Howe as their new manager. Fans were pretty excited about how things were going and how the new owners were taking action to better the club. Since the January transfer window was around the corner, fans were hoping for some new players coming their way.  As the January window ends, we will see how Newcastle shapes with the new signings.

CHRIS WOOD

New Zealand International player who played in league with Burnley. In the 2017-18 season, Chris Wood joined Burnley has played good football and scored goals. Wood has scored a minimum of 10 goals in the league every season, and this is why it gained the attention of Newcastle. Newcastle has had trouble scoring goals this season, and Chris Wood will definitely fill in that criteria. They purchased him after triggering his release clause of £25 million.

KIERAN TRIPPIER

Kieran had a successful career in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur. He played with the Spurs for four seasons. He regularly took part in the starting lineup in his last two seasons. A.Madrid then purchased him at the start of the 2019-20 season. Kieran made over 60 La Liga appearances with A.Madrid, and he also provided ten assists. Kieran was the player to be signed by Newcastle in this January transfer window. He was purchased for a fee of £12 million.

BRUNO GUIMARAES

The primary and costliest signing of the transfer window. The midfielder was bought from the French side of Lyon for a fee of Є50.1 million. The midfielder brings a lot of quality to the team; his defensive mindset will help Newcastle keep the ball and break the opponent’s play. Over his spell at Lyon, he scored three goals and provided four assists.

DAN BURN

The Defender who played in the league with Brighton and Hove Albion for over three and a half seasons was a part of Newcastle in his younger days. He played a crucial role in BHA’s defence and scored two goals. He was purchased for a fee of £13 million. He says it’s been his dream to play for the club since childhood.

Newcastle has made considerable investments in this transfer window, showing how concerned they are about staying in the Premier League. They are currently in the 18th position with 15 points and have only won 2 games. The new additions promise the team’s improvement and will be able to work well in defence where they are lacking the most.  They have also signed Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa. Where do you think Newcastle will finish at the end of the season?.
